From 1 July 2025, new Danish legislation for nicotine products, tobacco surro-gates, and a range of tobacco goods will enter into force. This is part of the gov-ernment’s action plan to prevent the use of nicotine and tobacco among children and young people. The new rules impose certain requirements for companies that manufacture, import, distribute, or trade nicotine products, tobacco surro-gates, and number of specific tobacco products. New rules must therefore be complied with from 1 July 2025.

The Danish Safety Technology Authority will check if electronic cigarettes and refill containers with and without nicotine have been registered correctly and meet the existing regulations. The control ensures that only registered products are sold and that non-registered products are removed from the market.

The Danish Safety Technology Authority’s costs for case management and market surveillance of tobacco products are covered by fees paid by manufacturers and importers. The fees cover costs such as the Danish Safety Technology Authority’s administration of the reporting and notification system and the control, which the authority carries out.
