Tasks

All of the Danish Safety Technology Authority's tasks are centred around technical safety. We cover different areas.

Authorisation and approval

The legislation covering the electricity, plumbing, gas and sewage installation fields regulates which types of installation work require authorisation or approval – and which can be carried out without authorisation or approval.

Working as cable installer in Denmark

You must be authorised to run electrical cables when working in Denmark. Persons who have qualified as an electrician in Denmark or in another EU/EEA country are permitted to run electrical cables. Such persons may work as a cable installer in Denmark, regardless of whether they are employed by an authorised electrical contractor company.

Working as pipe fitter in Denmark

You must be authorised to fit water pipes. Persons who have qualified as a plumbing fitter or smith in Denmark or in another EU/EEA country are permitted to fit water pipes. Such persons may work as a pipe fitter in Denmark, regardless of whether they are employed by an authorised plumbing contractor company.

Tattooing establishments

From 1. July 2018 all new tattooing establishments in Denmark must register at The Danish Safety Technology Authority, no matter if it is a temporary or a permanent business. Functioning tattooing establishments must have to register before 1 January 2019, either in a supervisory scheme or in an advisory scheme which is only available for the first year of registration.

The Electrical Safety Act

Act on the Safety of Electrical Plants, Electrical Installations and Electrical Equipment (the Electrical Safety Act) has come into force on 1 January 2016.

Gas regulation

New Danish gas legislation has come into force from from 21 April 2018. It implements the EU Gas Appliance Directive.

Fireworks

Working on switchboards

Working on switchboards can be involved with risk. We have made a video where you will learn about the procedures to avoid risk and take care of your own safety.

Tobacco

Here you can see the information about the legislation in the tobacco field. You will find information about the requirements for reporting and notification.
